Father Fantasy

A portrait I did of Hironobu Sakaguchi for commemoration of Final Fantasy's 25th Anniversary. Square was on the verge of bankruptcy when Sakaguchi was developing Final Fantasy and it was likely it was going to be the company's last game if it did not do well which is why he named it Final Fantasy. Of course the game was successful which allowed the company to stay in business and had spawned the series into over 20 games.

Sakaguchi was the director and designer of several games at Square which include such games as Rad Racer, Final Fantasy's I-V, and Chrono Trigger. Him and i share the same favorite entry in the FF series which is IX in which he was producer of the title.

He left Square in 2004 and founded his own game studio Mistwalker Studios where he helped create such games as Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and The Last Story.
